Sky Original - The Midwich Cuckoos

Released on Sky Max in June 2022, The Midwich Cuckoos is a British sci-fi thriller based on the classic novel. Set in the quiet English town of Midwich, the series follows a chilling mystery: after an unexplained 24-hour blackout, every child-bearing-aged woman in the town wakes up pregnant. Months later, they all give birth on the same day—to eerily unnatural children of alien origin.

From the trailer, it was clear that the show leaned heavily into psychological horror, using unsettling imagery of children to create an eerie, panic-inducing atmosphere. To reflect this, I focused on two key elements in my animation: disruptive flickering that would intrude on normal content, mimicking an otherworldly force taking over; shots of the children staring directly at the viewer, heightening the sense of unease.​ Using the existing campaign visual featuring the children standing ominously in a forest, I blended the credits into the darkest, deepest part of the image, creating a seamless and immersive transition. To enhance the atmosphere, I introduced subtle sunlight and floating dust particles, bringing the scene to life while maintaining its haunting and otherworldly feel.
